La Marque EDC Staff

The primary goal of the La Marque Economic Development Corporation is to assist in the development of a strong, diversified economy for the City of La Marque. This can be accomplished with a multifaceted approach that consists of efforts that help to promote business retention, business expansion, and business recruitment. For business, La Marque offers developmental incentives, an abundance of commercial property and build-to-suit opportunities. La Marque is the Gateway to the Gulf.

Alex Getty

Alex Getty is the Executive Director of the La Marque Economic Development Corporation. He has been serving in that capacity since 2009. Alex grew up in La Marque and graduated from La Marque High School in 1995. After moving around a bit pursuing his baseball dreams, Alex graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999. Shortly after that, he began teaching school and coaching golf. 

Alex married his beautiful wife Meredith in 2002, and together, they have three sons; Ty, Kyle, and Luke. He enjoys outdoor activities with his family and cattle ranching in his spare time. 

Alex has served on the Board of the Texas City - La Marque Chamber of Commerce and is the past President of the La Marque Kiwanis Club. Alex is also a Paul Harris Fellow. Under Alex’s leadership, the Texas Economic Development Council recognized LMEDC for Economic Excellence in 2017,  2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.

Mandy Woodburn

Mandy Woodburn is the Public Relations Specialist for the La Marque Economic Development Corporation. She has been in this position since early 2022. Mandy grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from the International School of the Americas in 2004. After working as a nanny for many years, she graduated from Texas State University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s in Electronic Media and a minor in film. After college, she worked for several TV News stations as a photojournalist, where she met her husband, Mark. After working in news, Mandy pursued a Marketing and Public Relations career at the San Antonio Zoo until moving to the Houston area in 2022.  

Mandy married her husband Mark, who is also a photojournalist, in 2019 and lives happily with their three dogs. Mandy travels to San Antonio often to visit with her parents,  two sisters and their families.
